As part of its ongoing commitment to support indigent students, the University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates Association (UIMGA) has awarded scholarships totaling ₦1,050,000 to 21 students from various higher institutions across Nigeria.
The announcement was made by the National President of UIMGA, Alhaji Abdulmajeed Imran, during the 19th edition of the Association’s annual scholarship presentation ceremony, held at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.
According to Alhaji Imran, the scholarship recipients include 18 students from the University of Ibadan, and one each from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Bayero University Kano (BUK), and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
He urged the beneficiaries to remain grateful and committed to giving back in the future when they are in a stable position, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a spirit of generosity and community support.
Also speaking, Chairman of the UIMGA Scholarship Committee, Engr. Abdullah Adelakun, stated that the primary aim of the initiative is to reduce the financial burden on students and help them access quality education. He encouraged the recipients to stay focused on their studies and to consider supporting the scholarship program after graduation.
In their goodwill messages, UIMGA Vice President, Dr. Sherifat Aboaba, and General Manager of Pensioners FM, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, also emphasized the importance of gratitude and paying forward the kindness received.
Some of the scholarship beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to UIMGA and its donors for their continued support. They pledged to uphold the values of the association and contribute to similar causes in the future.
