Press Release
Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council may issue red alert to Public Servants across the country on the letter presented to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, if issues raised in the letter are not attended to.
In a press release issued on Tuesday 29th September,2026 by the National Secretary, Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, who is also the General Secretary Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Olowoyo Gbenga, he disclosed that the ultimatum ( September 30th, 2026) served the Federal Government to address issues raised in the letter remains sacrosanct
According to him, the three critical issues which he emphasized are as follows:
1, That Federal Government should bring down the prices of fuel to (N500) five hundred Naira only.
This can be achieved by providing an intervention fund that will serve the purpose of addressing landing costs to assist oil and gas operators
Equally , it is a thing of paramount importance for the Federal Government to sell crude oil to Dangote Refinery and modular refineries operators so as to ensure that fuel prices come down to N500
The current price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) being sold at N1450, N2000 and N2500 in many places outside major communities and cities are unacceptable because the survival of Nigerian workers, their dependants and general populace are now hanging on the balance of survival to enable Nigerians live a normal life
2, The Federal government should give Wage Award to Nigerian workers to cushion the effect of harsh economic conditions as being experienced by workers, their dependants , hapless and vulnerable Nigerians
The Federal government should quickly address this issue so that Public Servants can consolidate on their loyalties and high productivity to the public service ecosystem
3, The Federal government should Set up a Tripartite Committee to facilitate the process of negotiation for the New National minimum wage that will be due in 2027.
The conviction of the Nigerian workers on the urgent need to set up the committee is to fill the gap that may delay the implementation of the new national minimum when it is eventually passed by the National Assembly
Consequent upon the above, failure on the part of the Federal Government to do the needful on or before September 30th 2026 the Nigerian workers will not hesitate to go on 3 day warning strike to press home their demands with effect from Friday 2nd October,2026
It is Very imperative to state in a very clear term that the independence day speech of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must address those issues, any failure, will attract the annoyance of Nigerian workers and their dependants as well as hapless Nigerians .
