The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has felicitated with the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on his 58th birthday.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Dayo Adu, the union described Governor Makinde as a visionary leader whose administration has continued to promote good governance and people-centred development in the state.
The NUJ noted that as the Grand Patron of the union in Oyo State, Governor Makinde has shown consistent support for the media and upheld the principles of press freedom, creating a conducive environment for journalists to carry out their professional duties.
According to the statement, the governor’s leadership style, characterised by transparency, accountability and inclusiveness, has translated into notable achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment across the state.
The council commended the governor’s recognition of the media as a critical partner in governance and development, adding that his open engagement with journalists has strengthened public trust and democratic values.
The NUJ Oyo State Council prayed for good health, renewed strength and wisdom for Governor Makinde as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.
The union wished the governor a happy birthday and many more years of impactful service to Oyo State and the nation at large.
