Makinde Advocates Single Term for Governors, President

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has called for a constitutional amendment to allow a single five – or six-year term for political office holders in Nigeria.

He made the call at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan while receiving the state delegation who paid him a Sallah homage following the Eid Kabir prayers held at the Agodi Eid Prayer Ground.

Governor Makinde maintained that a single-term system would enhance good governance by reducing the distractions and pressure associated with re-election campaigns, thereby promoting better service delivery and accountability.

‎The Governor therefore urged stakeholders to look the issue which has been discussed at the National Assembly.

‎He expressed appreciation to Islamic leaders and the Muslim Ummah for their prayers and support, which he said have significantly contributed to the success of his administration.

‎Delivering the messages of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan,Oba Rashidi Ladojal enjoined people to remain steadfast and hopeful in the face of challenges.
