JAMB Offers Free Registration for Persons Living With Disabilities
The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has announced that individuals with disabilities intending to take the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can register at no cost.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, shared this information during the rollout of the registration process, emphasizing the board’s commitment to supporting Persons Living With Disability (PLWD).
Starting the registration today, Oloyede revealed that JAMB will provide free application documents to all categories of PLWD. Additionally, measures have been implemented to ensure a seamless experience for all candidates, including the provision of audio books for blind candidates.
These audiobooks, available in popular formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA, will be compatible with various devices capable of streaming audio records.
The decision to offer audiobooks stemmed from recommendations made at the inaugural National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria.
Notably, individuals with Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) will now be classified under the disability group eligible for free registration.
This initiative reflects JAMB’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and equal educational opportunities.
