Gov Makinde Tasks Corps Members on Innovation for National Growth
The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has charged Nigerian youths to braze up to the challenge of economic realities through sharpening of their skills to be self reliant.
The governor gave the charge at the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 corps members held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Iseyin, Oyo state.
The Governor, whose address was read by the Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Youth and Sports Mrs. Olubukola Oladipo , explained that the current economic challenge requires ingenuity, exceptional skills and talents for a turn around.
He noted that it was expedient for the youths to upscale some entrepreneurial skills already learnt for personal economic sufficiency and that of the country.
Earlier, in his address, State Coordinator, NYSC Mr. Odoba Abel Oche, enjoined the corps members to take advantage of the orientation activities so as to be better equipped for the one year mandatory service.
He admonished them to pay keen attention and take active role in the skill acquisition program so as to add innovative ideas to their degree certificate to enable them stand out after the one year mandatory national service.
The swearing-in ceremony had in attendance representative of Chief Judge of Oyo state, Mrs Iyabo Yerima, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri III, security chiefs and traditional chiefs, clerics as well as corporate organisations.
