The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, successfully rescued five kidnap victims from two separate incidents in the state. Four victims abducted along the Ore-Ijebu Odo-Lagos expressway and one taken from his residence on Owo-Ikare road were all freed without ransom after spending several days in captivity.
Amotekun Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that the kidnappers had demanded over ₦150 million from the victims’ families. He emphasized the state government’s directive, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, against ransom payments and efforts to dismantle kidnapping operations in the state.
Special Amotekun rangers have been deployed to key forested areas, especially along the Ondo-Ogun boundary, where over a dozen criminal cases have been thwarted. The commander urged residents to support the agency with timely information and also called for compliance with the anti-open grazing law.
Two victims, Ayodele Olatunji and Emmanuel Adeladun, praised the Corps for their bravery, noting that their captors had threatened to kill them if ransom was delayed. Details about the arrested suspects remain undisclosed pending investigations.
