Tragedy struck in Iye Ekiti, Ilejemeje local government area of Ekiti state on Saturday as a farmer gunned down his own son to death.
The farmer, whose identity remains unknown as of the time of filing this report, claimed to have heard a movement on a tree in his farm and thought it was a monkey.
The state commissioner of police, Mr Joseph Eribo who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, said the farmer had been invited for interrogation.
According to Mr Eribo, the suspect said he went to farm with his fifteen year old son.
Mr Eribo said The father claimed that monkeys had been terrorizing his farm and while working, he observed a movement on a tree and fired a gun shot believing that it was a monkey only for his son to fall from the tree.
