The Missioner and Chief Imam of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Agbowo Branch, Alhaji Abdulfatai Yaqub, has cautioned Muslim faithful against the act of idolatry, reaffirming that only Almighty Allah is worthy of worship and ultimate reverence.
Speaking shortly after leading the two-rakat Eid prayer and the symbolic slaughtering of the ram at the Agbowo Eid praying ground, Alhaji Yaqub stressed that Allah abhors the act of His creations idolizing any other deity or entity. “Only Allah is supreme,” he emphasized, calling on worshippers to uphold the sanctity of monotheism as a core tenet of Islam.
Alhaji Yaqub used the occasion to send a strong message to political leaders across the country, urging them to lead with the fear of Allah and to remain committed to fulfilling their campaign promises. He noted that sincerity and accountability in governance are essential for national development, particularly at the grassroots level.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Chairman of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Agbowo Branch, Alhaji Muftaudeen Abidoye, reflected on the deeper meaning and moral teachings of Eid-el-Kabir.
He urged Muslims to be truthful, obedient to Allah, and faithful in keeping promises, drawing parallels to Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience.
In a direct appeal to the federal government, Alhaji Abidoye called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the economic hardship facing millions of Nigerians.
He advocated the introduction of people-centered policies aimed at alleviating poverty and easing the daily struggles of citizens.
Also lending his voice, the immediate past Treasurer of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society in Oyo State, Alhaji Gbadamosi, encouraged fathers and breadwinners to live modestly and explore subsistence farming as a means to navigate the current economic realities.
Alhaji Gbadamosi stressed the importance of self-reliance and adaptation during trying times.
