Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has issued a strong warning to individuals sponsoring criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, in Ondo State, saying they will face the full weight of the law.
The governor gave the warning while receiving members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ondo State chapter.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed concern over the recent wave of kidnappings, killings and road blockades in some parts of the state, especially in Ilu-Abo and Uso communities, stressing that such criminal acts must come to an end.
He disclosed that security agencies had so far arrested ninety-nine suspects, who are currently providing useful information regarding their involvement in the various security challenges across the state.
The governor assured that his administration would continue to strengthen collaboration with security agencies as well as with law-abiding members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association carrying out legitimate activities in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Ondo State, Alhaji Abubakar Mande, pledged the association’s support for the government’s security efforts.
Alhaji Mande said the association would cooperate fully with security agencies to identify and expose criminals within their ranks in order to ensure peace in the state.
He added that MACBAN remains committed to providing intelligence and other necessary support to promote a safer and crime-free Ondo State.
