The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Honourable Samson Opeyemi Fatola, has unveiled his five-pillar campaign manifesto, tagged “Tẹ S’ójú Ẹ — The Covenant Code,” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling, held at the Oyo State PDP Secretariat in Molete, Ibadan, attracted party leaders, ward and women leaders, chieftains, supporters and other candidates, including the PDP candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Bolanle Sarumi-BASA; Honourable Jimoh Taiwo; Honourable Usman Sijuade Adedibu; and Honourable Akeem Olaleye Obadara.
The Oyo State PDP Chairman, Professor Rahman Akinosho, also attended the event, while the party’s governorship candidate, Barrister Azeem Gbolarumi, was absent.
Earlier, Fatola presented jerseys and footballs to Langtang Football Club, which had adopted him as its sole candidate in recognition of his support for the team and his youth-friendly disposition.
Unveiling the blueprint, Fatola said the five-pillar agenda was designed to address major challenges confronting the constituency, including infrastructural decay, flooding, youth unemployment, fraudulent real estate practices and inadequate social protection.
The five Covenant Codes are Infrastructure and Community; Housing and Protection; Human Capital and Empowerment; Informal Labour Support; and Social Inclusion and Welfare.
Among the proposals are urban renewal initiatives, flood mitigation measures, modern drainage systems, road rehabilitation, solar-powered streetlights and community sports hubs.
The blueprint also proposes stronger regulation of real estate practitioners, a Graduate Transitional Assistance Scheme, a rehabilitation centre for youths battling substance abuse, and the establishment of the Ibadan Craft, Tech and Digital Academy.
Other initiatives include mandatory insurance for construction artisans, a constituency database and legal-aid desk, tuition-free scholarships for qualifying children, a Women’s Economic Fund, welfare and healthcare support for senior citizens, and upgrades to primary healthcare centres.
Fatola further promised to sponsor WAEC, NECO and JAMB registration fees for indigent students as part of measures aimed at improving access to education and expanding opportunities for young people in the constituency.
The event also featured raffle draws and the presentation of gifts to attendees, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Fatola expressed appreciation to the PDP leadership at the state and national levels, as well as party members, for their support and commitment, declaring that the party was “back and stronger.”
He assured residents of Ibadan North West and Ibadan South West that he would not disappoint them if elected, urging them to support the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event ended with supporters expressing optimism and solidarity with the candidate as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
