UTME 2024: Parents Dare Arrest, Storm CBT Centres in Ibadan

Sharing is caring!

Parents of candidates sitting for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination have defied the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board’s directives and besieged the accredited Computer Based Test centres in Ibadan as their children participate in the examination.

Some parents who accompanied candidates to Jamb accredited CBT centres in areas such as Orogun, Ologun Eru, University of Ibadan, Sango and Ikolaba waited patiently at the premises till their candidates finished the test.

The Jamb Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede had on Thursday 18th April, 2024,  directed all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre owners to arrest any parent, found near any of their facilities during the 2024 UTME exercise.

According to the Registrar, any parent, who disobeys this order, would not only be arrested but his ward would also be disqualified from sitting the examination.

He said the measure was necessary as intruding parents are facilitators of examination infractions while others have, by their actions, disrupted the Board’s examinations in the past.

Some parents who reacted to this order, expressed disappointment at the order of the registrar of jamb directing the arrest parents at the CBT centres.

Prime News reporter observed that the parents were seen in few metres away from the examination Premises and no police officer or security agent was sighted carrying out the directive.

The parents noted that since the examination was not conducted in their children’s schools, there’s the need to accompany them to locate the venue.

They explained that such directive was not appropriate in view of the security challenges, facing the nation adding that welfare of the candidates should be more paramount in the conduct of the examination.

We have seen where gunmen abduct students in school premises, we hear of kidnappings and killing here and there and you want us to release our children like that? It can’t be possible. Let them come and arrest us”
