A distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan, Dr. Ibrahim Arasi, has donated deep freezers worth millions of naira to the faculty to support research and academic activities.
Dr. Arasi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kachelan Pharma – Research Limited, made the donation through the faculty’s Alumni Association as part of efforts to give back to his alma mater.
The benefaction, according to him, was in fulfilment of a commitment he made during the Distinguished Alumnus Guest Lecture and Awards ceremony organised by the Alumni Association on November 4, 2025, where he was honoured.
He noted that globally recognised institutions rely significantly on the support of their alumni to sustain their legacies, stressing that the University of Ibadan, particularly its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, should not be an exception.
Dr. Arasi explained that the donation of deep freezers was informed by the critical need for proper preservation of biological samples in life sciences, which he said is essential for achieving reliable research outcomes.
He added that he would continue to support the institution in every possible way, describing the gesture as a personal responsibility.
The donor also commended the leadership of the Alumni Association under its President, Dr. Ibikunle Faramade, while urging other alumni to cultivate the culture of giving back in order to sustain academic excellence.
The items were formally presented on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, by members of the company’s top management team led by Dr. Temitope Oladimeji, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, on behalf of the Chief Executive.
Receiving the donation, the President of the Ibadan Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association, Dr. Ibikunle Faramade, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Arasi for the gesture.
He said such contributions remained vital to the continued leadership of the faculty in veterinary education in Africa and called on other alumni to emulate the donor, especially in view of dwindling government resources.
