Two siblings, Precious Adebayo (aged 10) and her brother Iyanuoluwa Adebayo (aged 9), have been declared missing by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ademola Adebayo, in the Idi Ayunre area of Oyo State.
According to their mother, Mrs. Oluwatosin Adebayo, the children were last seen on March 22, 2025, at Ajia Village, Idi Ayunre, Odo Ona Kekere, in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.
She explained that the siblings, who were pupils of Knowledge Basic Nursery and Primary School, Idi Ayunre, had visited their schoolmates on the day they went missing.
Prime News gathered that after visiting their friends, the children allegedly proceeded to the Ajia River to swim, as they had done the previous day.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Command reported that the case was filed on March 22 at the Idi Ayunre Police Station. According to the police, a pair of shoes belonging to one of the missing children was discovered on the riverbank.
Despite the efforts of local divers, neither the children nor their bodies have been found as of the time of this report.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Johnson Adenola, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
He urged parents to caution their children against swimming in rivers, especially during the rainy season.
