Six Die in LG Secretariat Take Over Clash – Osun CP
The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Muhammed Abba, has confirmed that six persons were killed in the chaos that happened over control of local government secretariats in the state.
CP Abba, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola disclosed this to Newsmen in Osogbo.
The Osun CP explained that apart from the number of casualties, many were injured and had been hospitalised
The event of yesterday left six people dead and many people are hospitalised. We are not happy with what happened and various groups have been called for meeting, series of meetings are holding to ensure that this does not happen”
While assuring that the command would ensure that perpetrators of the fatal violence would be arrested and prosecuted, CP Abba said peace is gradually returning to the state.
He added that , the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has directed the deployment of tactical squads from other states to Osun State to ensure peace and order.
However,security operatives were noticed at strategic locations around the Council Secretariats Visited.
Recall that Leaders and members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, alongside their thugs, had clashed amid gunshots on Monday in a bid to occupy the councils.
