Seyi Adisa Flags Off Skill Empowerment Training for Young Women in Afijio
Seyi Adisa Development Initiative, SADI, a non governmental organisation, has flagged off skill acquisition training on bag making for adolescents and young women in Afijio local government area of Oyo State.
SADI, an initiative of a former Lawmaker who represented Afijio constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023, Barrister Seyi Adisa, is notable based on its cutting edge transformatory initiatives geared towards reducing rate of poverty, under development and unemployment in Africa through Skills and economic empowerment programmes.
Barrister Seyi Adisa, at the orientation ceremony, held in Awe, said SADI, was passionate about reducing rate of poverty, under development and unemployment hence the training in partnership with She Rises International to empower the young women with bag making skills to transform the economy.
Adisa, who spoke through the SADI Administration and Resource Manager, Mr. Ọpẹyemi Oyeniyi disclosed that SADI had trained and empowered over ten scores of direct beneficiaries which are now successful in their respective businesses.
” SADI supports women, when the men are going up, the women folks should also grow. We have done series of skills acquisition and vocatioal trainings for women and youths in Afijio since 2019 and we have recorded impressive testimonials from both direct and indirect beneficiaries”

Adisa, enjoined the trainees to participate fully in the six weeks intensive ptactical training sessions with the growth mindset so as to break even in tge Bag making vocation they have chosen

The SADI Programme Officer , Adelayo Adeyemo, explained that the project was to empower girls and women of age 16 to 24 with lucrative vocational skills that would make them self reliant.
This is to encourage adolescent persons to know that they can also start from somewhere to support their selves. They now understand the fact that you don’t have to get to a particular stage before you start making money and we are looking forward to a community and society where everybody can be able to take care of their basic needs. It will also prevent our girls young women from being preys to men, it will reduce teenage pregnancy “
She added that apart from trainings on Bag making business, trainees would be initiated into Branding and Digital skills to enable them offer services to clients across the nation and larger world without having a shop or physical store as well as finance management and book keeping including mentoring interface with established partners for on-the-job training and mentoring on the business.
Facilitator of the training, the Creative Director Totes & More in partnership with Analee Crafties, Miss Oluwatomisin Oyewale, who relayed her experience in the business said bag making is a lucrative business adding that the trainees could become prominent in the business if they master the draft patterns, sewing and finishing of modern bags and accessories.
Some of the beneficiaries, Oladimeji Adenike, Owoade Adeola and Salami Naimat appreciated SADI and Barrister Seyi Adisa for offering them an exit from the cage of poverty through the skill acquisition programme initiative, promising to make the best of the training to attain their dreams.
