Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has lauded Remo Stars Football Club for their historic triumph in the Nigeria Professional Football League ,NPFL, describing the win as a landmark achievement in the state’s sporting history.
Remo Stars clinched their first-ever NPFL title with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, April 27—a feat Governor Abiodun hailed as unprecedented and reflective of the club’s dedication and resilience.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade, the Governor praised the team for upholding the spirit of excellence for which Ogun State is known. He noted that the club’s consistency, discipline, and unwavering pursuit of excellence have finally borne fruit.
Remo Stars have shown a remarkable level of patriotism and commitment since their inception,” Governor Abiodun said. “Their perseverance and talent have earned them not only the 2024–2025 NPFL title but also recognition as a beacon of what is possible in Nigerian football.”
He also highlighted the club’s promotion to the elite league just four years ago as a testament to its rapid growth and strategic development.
The Governor encouraged other local clubs to emulate the determination and resilience demonstrated by Remo Stars, emphasizing that such values are vital to elevating the status of Nigeria’s local leagues.
