Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from detention in the United Kingdom, maintaining that he did not commit the alleged sexual offence for which he was detained.
Poco Lee made the remarks during a video call with social media activist VeryDarkMan, where he reflected on his experience and the support he received while in detention.
According to him, he remained calm because he knew he had done nothing wrong.
“I was being myself, God sees my heart, my only worries out there was my people,” he said.
Poco Lee said he would have accepted the situation if he had actually committed the alleged offence, but maintained that the allegation against him was untrue.
“If I to say I do wetin person talk, I for say, Omo I dey suffer for my sins, but as I no do anything, my mind is as pure,” he said.
The dancer also expressed appreciation to singer Burna Boy and Rahman Jago for standing by him during the difficult period.
He said the support meant a lot to him, particularly at a time when some people appeared to derive satisfaction from his predicament.
“Nobody will probably want to attach themselves with something like this, but for them Burna Boy to stand for me and Rahman Jago,” he said.
Poco Lee further urged men to be cautious in their dealings with women, saying: “Use 18 hours fear women.”
His comments come after he was detained in the UK over allegations of sexual offences. He has since been released, while the legal proceedings relating to the case remain ongoing.
The allegations have not been established as fact, and Poco Lee has denied committing the alleged offence.
