The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo State Council has commiserated with the State government and the entire people of Ondo State over the passage of a centenarian and foremost political leaders, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, declaring that Yoruba race will miss his unparalleled leadership qualities.
Pa Reuben Fasoranti, a respected leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere passed on gloriously at his home in Akure, Ondo State five months after his centenary birthday on May 11, this year.
The council, in a statement jointly signed by the chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, and the secretary, Com. Olaoluwa Meshack, noted that the deceased was an embodiment of wisdom, integrity and selfless service whose century-long life was marked by uncommon commitment to the development of our dear Sunshine State, Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.
It noted that the Elder statesman distinguished himself as a prominent figure in Nigerian society, embodying the principles of service, integrity, and leadership found in traditional Yoruba values of Omoluabi, and stood for justice and good governance throughout his lifetime.
Ondo NUJ added that Pa Fasoranti was a democracy activist and one of the last great titans of Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s progressive family, and his demise will surely leave a vacuum in the southwest political family.
The union commiserated with the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the entire Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and Ondo State as well as the entire Yoruba race, over the passage of the patriarch, describing the centenarian as a selfless disciplinarian with unwavering commitment to the unity of Yoruba people and the progress of Nigeria.
