Oyo NAWOJ Seeks Implementation of Policies, Laws Against FGM
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter, has called on Government and stakeholders to Strengthen laws and policies at preventing female Genital Mutilation, FGM in Nigeria.
The NAWOJ Chairperson in Oyo state, Mrs Omolola Alamu made the call on the ocassion of this year’s Zero Tolerance for Female Genital MutilationMrs Alamu, in a statement signed by the association’s Sectretary, Mrs Eniola Adeaga, urges Government to increase funding for initiatives addressing FGM, support survivors and provide access to justice and reparations
Mrs Alamu while commenting on this year’s theme, “stepping up the pace “, stressed the need for collective action to eradicate the harmful practice that affects millions of girls and women worldwide.
She urged traditional and religious leaders to denounce FGM and uphold the rights and dignity of girls and women.
