Oyo Distributes Science Kits To Public Schools
Oyo State Education Trust Fund, in collaboration with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure(NASENI), distributed some science kits to Public Secondary Schools to further enhance the quality delivery of science subjects in Oyo State.
The Chairman, Education Trust Fund (ETF), Mr. Abdur-Raheem Abdur-Rahman, at a short event, held within the premises of the Education Trust Fund Office at Jericho, Ibadan, said the vision and mission of Governor Makinde led administration was to raise the quality and standard of education in the state through effective collaboration and participation of major stakeholders both within and outside the state.
He explained that the present administration in the state was leaving no stone unturned at ensuring remarkable improvement in the standard of education through series of laudable education interventions that include recruitment of qualified teachers, provision of furniture and customised exercise books for all Public Secondary Schools in the state.
He maintained that the Science Kits will go a long way at improving students’ scientific knowledge as theories are integrated into practice.
Education remains the key to the transformation of our society, and any society that underestimates this reality surely condemns itself to a perpetual cycle of backwardness and poverty”.
“This is why the Oyo State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde is cognizant of this fact to choose education as one of the cardinal points in his Omituntun 2.0.

The science kits will go a long way at improving students’ scientific knowledge as theories are integrated into practice.
“Technological discovery and innovation are science-driven, If the science subjects are properly handled and taught alongside the practical aspect, it is expected to provide students with enough knowledge and encourage the acquisition of necessary skills rather than resulting into memorization as observed among students.
In addition, the kit will provide an avenue for students to see, touch and believe the learning concept, which leads to permanent assimilation of information and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to combat the challenges ahead.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Education Trust Fund, Mr. Adekunle Olusegun, called on Corporate Organisations, Philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to join hands with the state government through Oyo State Education Trust Fund (ETF) to provide basic infrastructure and learning materials to public schools in the state.
He also charged beneficiary schools to put the equipment into good use for the enhancement of teaching and learning of science subjects.
While appreciating the state government, Education Trust Fund Team and(NASENI), a teacher from Muslim Secondary School,Tede,Mr Salahudeen Abdul Wasiu said the materials donated will be useful for the students, teachers and the school at large.
He added that the materials will make the teaching and learning more practical rather than being theoretical always.
