Osun is Ready To Combat Diptheria – Health Commissioner
Osun state government says it has set machinery in motion to curtail the spread of Diptheria to the state.
Commissioner for health, Barrister Jola Akintola stated this in Ilesa while speaking with newsmen
Barrister Akintola said due to the recent report from the Nigeria centre for disease control, NCDC, on Diptheria outbreak, his ministry has activated Emergency operation centre and technical working group to alert the public and take measures to prevent the spread of Diptheria and outbreak of other diseases in the state .
Barrister Akintola, who stressed that the state has more medical personnel than other states, noted that the state paid incentives to motivate and keep its medical personnel.
Barrister Akintola hinted that the state government was planning to recruit medical personnel before the issue of new minimum wage surfaced, which caused a setback.
He however explained.that governmemt was not backing out on the plan but only trying to study the financial implications before forging ahead.
