Ahead of 15th August Osun Governorship Poll, Governorship candidates from the 14 Political Parties contesting in the election have signed a peace accord, reaffirming their commitment to a peaceful, free, and credible election
The formal signing of the Peace Accord which was held in Osogbo brought together key stakeholders, who described the accord as a crucial step towards ensuring a successful democratic process.
Speaking, The Chairman National Peace Committee , General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Represented by a member of NPC, John Cardinal Onayekan urged the Political Parties and their Governorship Candidates to do their best to carry on their campaigns, their activities in a peaceful way, respect the law, and remember that election will come and go.
In his remarks,The Chairman Osun State council of Traditional rulers and The Ooni of Ife,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi called on the eligible voters to go out and vote on the Election day and stressed the need for all and sundry to shun violence.
Earlier In his goodwill message, The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan said the commission has refined its logistics, audited technological frameworks, and fortified result management paths to eliminate systemic vulnerabilities.
Also speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, The AIG zone 11( Eleven),Mr.Fasuba Olabode assured that the Security Agencies would continue to ensure the protection Residents before, during and after the upcoming Governorship Election.
In his speech,the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke expressed dismay over the unlawful detention of some members of his cabinet in the last two months and assured that his administration is committed to achieve a peaceful Election.
