Ooni of Ife Offers ₦10m, Food Stuff Succour to OAUTH Ile-Ife Disengaged Staff

Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniitan Ogunwusi, has donated ten million naira and one thousand bags of rice to the disengaged staff of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTH Ile-Ife, Osun state to ameliorate their suffering linked to eleven month unpaid salaries.

Oba Ogunwusi announced the donation in his Ile-Ife palace while addressing the staff.

The traditional ruler assured them that he was working with relevant stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Health among others to resolve the crisis.

Speaking on behalf of the disengaged workers, their spokesperson, Mr Samson Falope, explained that the hospital management served them a circular last week Wednesday, disengaging over 1,500 workers from their duty posts after serving the institution for about 15 months without salary.

Mr Falope noted that the sacked workers had made attempt to seek audience with the Management of the hospital but all to no avail.

Meanwhile, armed policemen yesterday chased away protesters who carried placards at the main entrance of the hospital seeking justice on their matter.
