A leading Oyo-born influencer and philanthropist, Alhaji Akinkinmi Saheed Siyanbola, popularly known as Omo Iya Kunmi, has announced the 6th edition of the Oyo Social Media and Distinguished Personalities Awards—an initiative dedicated to honouring excellence, influence, and impactful contributions across the state.
Siyanbola, founder of the OmoIyaKunmi Foundation, is widely recognized for championing youth empowerment, community development, and social recognition initiatives within Oyo State.
According to information to the organiser, this year’s edition will feature a total of 49 awards across different categories. These include 29 social category awards, 15 distinguished personalities awards, 3 outstanding excellence awards, and 2 posthumous recognitions. The ceremony is designed to spotlight individuals who have distinguished themselves through social media influence, leadership, creativity, and community service.
The grand event is scheduled to hold on Sunday, May 31, 2026, and is expected to attract influencers, policymakers, public figures, and stakeholders from various sectors across and beyond Oyo State.
Ahead of the ceremony, the source stressed the need to celebrate individuals who use their platforms positively, noting that the awards are aimed at promoting responsible influence and inspiring a new generation of socially conscious youth.
The organiser also called for sponsorship and strategic partnerships from corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to strengthen the impact and sustainability of the initiative.
