NYSC Lauds Military Impacts on National Youth Service, Says it’s Unquantifiable
The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche has has hailed the military for it’s contribution to the NYSC scheme.
Odoba described NYSC as a brain child of the military, birthed during General Yakubu Gowon’s military administration to rehabilitate, reconstruct and reconcile the nation after the civil war that ravaged the country for 36 months with a clear mission to promote national unity and integration.
Odoba who paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian army, Major General Bamidele Alabi in his office at Odogbo, Ibadan, acknowledged the unquantifiable impact of the military on National Youth Service Corps.
While ddressing the GOC and other senior officers of the Division, Odoba commended the GOC for taking NYSC as a family and sending good officers to maintain discipline during orientation exercises.
The officers and men were professional in handling corps members and providing adequate security for the camp and its environment which had ensured hitch-free orientation courses.”
He therefore sought for more synergy and robust working relationship between the Nigerian army and NYSC.
Responding, the General Officer Commanding 2 Div.Major General Alabi lauded NYSC for the relentless efforts in promoting national unity and integration.
He attested to the fact that NYSC as an organization is a role model to many other African Youth organisations.
General Alabi applauded the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme of the Scheme noting that it has continued to save a lot of our Youths from joblessness.
While assuring the NYSC Oyo State management that the formation will continue to send good officers that are dynamic to enforce discipline with high level of civility during orientation exercise.
General Alabi expressed satisfaction with the all encompassing and meaningful programs of NYSC such as physical and mental trainings which prepare them for leadership roles.He also pledged that the military would not relent in assisting the NYSC Oyo State in whatever area that falls within their power.
