In line with its mandate to protect lives and property of residents of Ondo State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, has arrested two private security guards for stealing and selling air conditioners belonging to the Nigerian Mainstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
On Sunday, 14th June, 2026, operatives of the Command, acting on diligent surveillance, arrested one Peter Jacob, male, 36 years, a private security guard with Crown Security Network posted to Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. He was found in possession of an air conditioner belonging to the Commission.
During interrogation, Peter Jacob confessed to the crime and named Oluwatosin Oluwafemi, male, 29 years, a private security guard with Global Security Networks, as his accomplice. Oluwatosin Oluwafemi also confessed to stealing the air conditioner in conjunction with Peter Jacob.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Commission had recently replaced all air conditioners in its office complex with new units, while the replaced units were stored within the premises. At the time of arrest, five air conditioner sets had already been stolen and sold.
The suspects are currently in custody and have made useful statements to assist ongoing investigations. Efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen property.
Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime across the State. He further urged private guard companies to ensure proper profiling and close monitoring of their personnel before recruitment and deployment.
The Command remains resolute in its duty to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure, and calls on members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
