NSCDC Agro Rangers Team Up with Ondo Agriculture Ministry on Farm Security

The Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has partnered with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, to strengthen food security through a joint task force involving the Command’s Agro Rangers Unit.

The modalities for the composition and responsibilities of the task force were discussed during a courtesy visit by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Engr. ‘Leye Akinola, alongside members of his management team, to the State Commandant, Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, on Wednesday, 24th June, 2026.

Commandant Ibiloye assured the Commissioner of the Command’s readiness to collaborate with the State Government in protecting farms, agricultural investments, and agro-allied businesses across the state.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that activities around forest reserves and agricultural resources are carried out within the provisions of the law, noting that consultants engaged by the government to manage forest reserves must operate in accordance with legal guidelines.

Earlier, the Commissioner highlighted the introduction of forest and polygon mapping, as well as the provision of real-time coordinates of farmlands to the NSCDC to enable timely security interventions.

The partnership is expected to enhance the protection of agricultural assets, improve response mechanisms to threats affecting farming communities, promote sustainable management of natural resources, and contribute significantly to food security and economic development in Ondo State.
