Nigeria Must Build Safer Future for Every Child, First Lady Insists

Marking the 2026 World Day Against Child Labour, with the theme “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator OluRemi Tinubu, has called for renewed commitment to protecting every child’s right to safety, education, dignity, and overall well-being.

Senator Oluremi stressed that no child should be denied the opportunity to learn, grow, and fulfil their potential as a result of child labour, noting that children belong in homes, classrooms, playgrounds, and other safe environments where they can thrive.

She urged governments, institutions, communities, and families to continue investing in the well-being of children while creating opportunities that strengthen families and enable them to provide adequate care and support.

The First Lady called on all stakeholders to raise a red card against child labour and work collectively towards building a fairer, safer, and more promising future for every child.
