The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that all accredited institutions are now required to verify and upload student data on the recently upgraded Student Loan Application System (SLAS) to ensure the timely processing of student loan applications.
According to a public notice signed by Director, Strategic Communications, the SLAS platform has been fully digitised to streamline the loan processing experience for both students and institutions.
As part of the new process, institutions must request access to the portal via registration@nelf.gov.ng and are urged to do so without delay.
The directive is aimed at enabling institutions to monitor real-time dashboards of their students’ loan statuses, confirm submitted data, and track the progress of each application.
NELFUND emphasized that these verification and upload processes are mandatory steps before loan approvals and disbursements can be completed.
Students were also advised that a “Verified” status on their portal indicates the completion of initial checks. However, final approval and disbursement remain dependent on data confirmation by their respective institutions. Once verified, the status will change to “Disbursed” upon payment of tuition fees.
NELFUND expressed appreciation for the cooperation of institutions and the patience of students as it works toward a more transparent and efficient loan system.
