Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway: FG To Commence Works On Ondo Axis – Umahi
The Federal Government says works will soon commence on the Ondo State axis of the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal road.
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the Akure Airport on the visit to inspect ongoing federal road projects in Ondo State.
Senator Umahi said he was in the state to conclude alignment and procurement of the affected areas in order to commence work.
The Minister, who was received by the Ondo State Federal Controller of Works, Mr Olajide Oseni and the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Infrastructure, Mr Abiola Olawoye said the work will be completed on schedule.
The 700 kilometres Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project is expected to run from Victoria Island, Lagos to Calabar, Cross River State.
The highway will pass through Ogun State, Ondo State, Delta State, Bayelsa State, Rivers State, and Akwa Ibom State, before ending in Calabar and is intended to connect the western and south-eastern regions of Nigeria in order to improve cross-country connectivity and trade relations.
Senator Umahi used the medium to congratulate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his victory at the Supreme Court and the people of Ondo State.
