JONAPWD Tackles Rano Air Over Denial of Person With Disability to Board Flight

Prime news gathered that a special passenger (Disabled man) on a wheelchair was denied boarding the Rano Passenger Airplane on Tuesday, 14th May, 2024
Honourable Usman Bra, a regional chairman of JONAPWD attempted to board a from Yobe to Maiduguri in order to board a plane to Abuja for a national function but was denied due to his disability status.
National President of JONAPWD, Mr Abdullahi Usman condemed the treatment describing it as disrespectful and inhuman the respectable member of the association by Rano Air
“As president of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) and on behalf of our members nationwide, we hereby condemn and protest against such ill treatment
“Sadly, yet disgracefully, after being issued with his boarding pass like all other passengers, he was obstructed and denied entrance into the Rano Airplane due to his state of disability”
“More shamelessly, they remorselessly and with utter malevolence, voiced the rationale behind such cruelty saying “all passengers must board the plane on their two feet”. This now, entails that Rano Air unapologetically acted against human rights and dignity. Because of this unacceptable display of enmity, Mr. Usman didn’t attend the important function in Abuja which started today 15th May.”
He however demanded the management of Rani Air to apologize to Mr. Usman Bra and JONAPWD and compensate him for unnecessary damages the incident must have caused.
