IPC Launches iVerify to Combat Rising Information Disorder

The International Press Centre (IPC) has launched the iVerify project in Abuja, Nigeria with the unveiling of iVerify fact-checking platform

The iVerify initiative, supported by the UNDP and the Spanish Government, aims to combat the rising information disorder caused by the proliferation of disinformation, misinformation, and hate speech in the electoral and democratic processes.

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu,represented by Director Voter Education and Publicity INEC, Mrs. Mary Nkem delivered the keynote address.

The project launch was attended by media stakeholders, Non-Governmental Civil Society Organisations, international organizations, and other relevant organizations.

The iVerify platform provides an alternative fact-checking platform to Nigerians to verify claims in social media with a view to ensuring information integrity in Nigeria
