The Founder of Christ Followers Evangelical Ministry (CFEM), Prophetess Esther Oluwakemi Adebayo Adonai JP, has rebuked Nollywood actresses for what she described as indecent dressing displayed across their social media platforms.
Prophetess Adebayo expressed concern over the growing influence of these actresses on young people, particularly their fans, who tend to emulate their lifestyle and fashion choices without discernment.
She emphasised that the trend of revealing outfits is gaining momentum among the youth and even among married women.
The cleric noted that many of these actresses command large followings online, with thousands and even millions of followers who actively monitor their content and often replicate their fashion style.
According to her, the actresses may be unaware of the impact their appearance has on impressionable fans.
When you check their social handles, they have thousands and millions of followers,” Prophetess Adebayo said. “These people do not only check the information they pass across but go the extra mile to copy their dressings, and even take their style to tailors to sew for them.”
Prophetess Adebayo lamented that the excessive display of skin and half naked clothes by celebrities sends the wrong message to younger generations who are still in the formative stages of life while warning that such influence could derail moral values in society.
Prophetess Adebayo further pointed out that many housewives also now model their lifestyle after popular screen stars, abandoning modesty and discretion in their bid to look trendy and attractive.
She urged Nollywood actresses to use their platforms more responsibly by promoting decency, dignity, and positive moral values that can inspire their followers toward a better life. She also appealed to parents to guide their children wisely in navigating social influences.
Prophetess Adebayo reminded celebrities that public figures have a duty to lead by example, noting that their fame comes with moral responsibility to the society.
She cautioned that failure to uphold decency could result in a moral crisis that may take generations to correct, emphasing the need for spiritual leaders, parents, and educators to unite in reinforcing the values of modesty and discipline.
Prophetess Adebayo called on church leaders and religious bodies to speak up more boldly on issues affecting youth morality, stating that silence in the face of cultural decline only empowers negative trends to grow unchecked.
