A group of suspected Yahoo gangs on Thursday evening, launched a surprise attack on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.
The attack which started at 4 O’clock lasted for about 30 minutes, according to eyewitnesses and a police officer on the scene.
The suspects, allegedly involved in internet fraud, stormed the EFCC office in an attempt to free their cohorts who had been arrested by the anti-graft agency in recent days but were met with resistance from EFCC operatives and anti-cultism police, who quickly overpowered them.
Prime News gathered that most of the suspects were arrested by the EFCC and anti-cultism police, while others fled the scene.
Meanwhile a reliable source EFCC who craved anonymity has confirmed the incident and assured that the situation was under control.
“The motive behind the attack is believed to be a desperate attempt to free their fellow gang members and disrupt the ongoing investigation into their illegal activities.”
