Gunmen Invade Residence, Kill Former OGTV Staff, Guard

Gunmen have reportedly killed a retired staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan”, and her security guard at her residence in Agodo Community along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, has thrown family members, friends and the media community into mourning.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

Although details surrounding the attack remain unclear, sources said the incident was discovered by members of Mrs Oyesiku’s church who became concerned after she failed to attend a church service.

According to a source, the church members visited her residence to check on her welfare and found the security guard dead. Further checks reportedly revealed that Mrs Oyesiku had also been killed by the assailants.

The discovery prompted an alarm, attracting residents and security operatives to the scene.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command was aware of the development and would issue an official statement after preliminary investigations.

Mrs Oyesiku was a respected media professional who served with the state-owned television station before her retirement. News of her death has generated widespread grief among colleagues, associates and residents of Ogun State.
