Gov. Abiodun, Dignatories Hold Day of Tributes for Late Alaba Lawson
It was an evening of eulogies and outpouring of emotions as dignitaries from far and wide converged on Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital to pay their last respect to the late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson.
Those who spoke about the deceased at the evening of tributes as part of the week long funeral programme for the late industrialist depicted her as a likable personality who was very humane, full of positive energy and ever willing to make impacts on everyone and everything around her.
The dignitaries, associates family and friends of the late first female national President of NACCIMA were unanimous in their submissions, describing Chief Alaba Lawson as a phenomenal being whose memory and legacies would linger among the living.
In a remark, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako Oyedele, who extended the condolences of the State Government to the Family, Friends and associates maintained that the extra-ordinary achievements of the foremost industrialist was an inspiration to all.
Governor Abiodun appreciated the efforts of the deceased women leader who according to him, was a great supporter of his administration.
In a sermon entitled “Before it is too late, the Bishop, Egba Diocese of the African Church, Dr Jacob Ayoko said death was inevitable, hence the need for people to make peace with their maker before reaching the final the end of their journey in life.
The clergyman encouraged the deceased’s Children to walk in the path of their mother and contribute meaningfully to humanity.
Speaking on the level of poverty in the country, the religious leader urged the public office holders to concentrate efforts on making life more bearable for the people.
The evening of tributes which featured various musical presentations, prayers for the country, Ogun State, the Church and Family members of the deceased was attended by Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, national and state lawmakers, members of the State Executive Council, spiritual leaders and traditional rulers as well as representatives of private organizations and captains of Industries among others.
