Federal workers have announced plans to occupy Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, following unmet demands related to wage implementation and outstanding entitlements.
The workers are demanding the full implementation of the new National Minimum Wage, a 30% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) pending the conclusion of wage negotiations, and the payment of four outstanding months from a five-month wage award.
They are also seeking the settlement of unpaid peculiar allowances, a 25–35% salary review, promotion arrears, and other obligations owed to employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In a statement issued by union representatives, the workers gave the Federal Government a deadline of June 30 to address the issues. Failure to do so, they said, will lead to the commencement of a peaceful occupation of the Presidential Villa from July 1.
As of press time, the Federal Government has not issued an official response to the planned action.
Meanwhile, security agencies are expected to assess the situation in the coming days.
