Family, Church Members Hold Wake for Nigerian Flag Designer, Pa Michael Akinkunmi
Children and members of immediate family of the Nigerian flag designer, Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi and the congregation where he worship, have held a Christian wake as part of his rites of passage.
The wake, conducted by ministers and national choir of the Gospel Faith Mission International was laced with songs and hymns as well as readings from the bible passages.
Pa Akinkunmi, a national hero designed the green-white-green flag in a competition in 1958 and thereafter unveiled world’s largest national flag in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital in 2021. 
Mr. Flag, as fondly called, gifted the nation a symbol of unity in form of the national flag which the country has not had any cause replace.
The London trained Electrical Engineer, became a rally point even in death , for ingenuity and intuition in modelling and mobilising the youths for Nigeria’s development as his favourite hymn was rendered at the event
In a Sermon, a Senior Pastor in The Gospel Faith Mission International, Joshua Akinola who spoke on the topic, “Remembering his death recieving your Life”, likened Pa Akinkunmi’s design of national flag as replication of what Jesus Christ did for mankind, hence the need to see the national heritage as a sign of growth and healing for the nation
The Cleric noted that the nation currently needed ingenious and dedicated citizenship to drive the healing Nigeria yearn for.
Son of the deceased, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, said their patriarch left the legacy love , peace and commitment to the service of the nation.
