FAKE AGENCY SCANDAL: Step Aside for Credible Probe, Akande Tells Gbajabiamila

Former presidential aide, Mr. Laolu Akande, has called on the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, to temporarily step aside following allegations linking him to the alleged fake agency scandal.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Akande said such a move would strengthen public confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.

He maintained that senior public officials have a responsibility to safeguard the integrity of the offices they occupy, especially when faced with allegations that attract widespread public attention.
According to Akande, stepping aside while investigations are ongoing should not be seen as an admission of guilt but as a demonstration of respect for due process and good governance. He added that it would allow investigations to proceed without any perception of interference and enhance the credibility of the outcome.

Akande further stressed that public accountability demands that leaders place the nation’s interest above personal considerations during periods of controversy.

He said Gbajabiamila owes it to himself, his family, President Bola Tinubu, and Nigerians to temporarily relinquish his position, noting that such a decision would ultimately earn him greater respect and credibility.
