As Muslims across the globe celebrate this year’s Eid-il-Kabir, the Alabidun Muslim Community Ibadan (AMCI), New Airport, Alakia, has urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of promise-keeping, perseverance, and prayer to navigate the country’s current socio-economic challenges.
In a joint Eid message signed by the Ameer, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, and the Secretary, Mallam Mikail Atobajaye, the Islamic community reminded the faithful that Eid-il-Kabir symbolizes total submission to Allah, inspired by the profound patience and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim.
The Islamic leaders emphasised that the essence of the festival goes beyond the sacrificial slaughtering of rams, highlighting three pillars vital for national rebirth
According to AMCI Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled his covenant with Allah, demonstrating that integrity is non-negotiable.
It added at the historic patience displayed by Prophet Isma’il and his mother, Hajar, serves as a blueprint for citizens enduring difficult times.
They emphasised constant supplication as the ultimate spiritual tool to trigger divine intervention and ease hardships.
With political activities gradually gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria, AMCI issued a stern warning to political actors.
The leadership called on politicians to depart from old ways and prioritize the welfare of the masses over personal ambitions.”Politicians must realize that leadership is a sacred trust from Almighty Allah, and every leader will account for their stewardship,” the statement read. “As the 2027 elections approach, we advise political aspirants to refrain from making empty, deceptive promises just to win votes. The level of frustration in the land demands sincere leadership, not political manipulation.”
AMCI further urged politicians to emulate the sacrificial spirit of the season by lowering the cost of governance and implementing policies that directly alleviate poverty, rather than burdening the citizens.
While congratulating the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, Dr. Tiamiyu and Mallam Atobajaye called on wealthy individuals to share their festive meat and provisions with the less privileged.
The Muslim community concluded with a prayer for peace, security, and economic stability in Nigeria, urging citizens of all faiths to coexist harmoniously and pray continually for the nation’s leaders to govern with the fear of Almighty Allah.
