Court Sentences 5 Offa Bank Robbery Gang to Death By Hanging

The Kwara State High Court has sentenced five suspects standing trial on their involvement in the Offa banks robbery incident of 2018 to death by hanging.

The accused persons are Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salahudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran

The suspects were found guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide six years after the incident.

On April 2018, some daredevil robbers stormed Offa town of Kwara State and robbed at least five commercial banks in the ancient town leaving many people, including nine policemen, dead while stealing an undisclosed sum of money from the banks.

In her ruling, Justice Haleemah Salman having satisfied that the prosecution had successfully proved its case against the defendants, sentenced the Suspects to death by hanging

The offences according to Justice Salman were punishable by death.
