Civil Coalition for Good Governance tells Governor Makinde to Address Decadence in Primary, Secondary Schools
Civil Coalition for Good Governance, CCGG, in Oyo state, has called on the state government to address the rising level of decadence in public primary and secondary schools across the state.
The CCGG made the call at its annual Congress held at JDPC office Bashorun Ibadan.
The group which drew members from all the thirty-three local government areas of the state expressed with sadness the prevalent rate of drug abuse, cultism and street begging in school premises and it’s surrounding, calling on government to wade in and restore sanity.
The State Chairman, CCGG, Alhaji Hamza Ladiran noted that the educational stardard had fallen, urging the state government to hand over public schools to the community
In a lecture entitled: “state of education (Basic and post primary ) in Oyo State: the way forward” the commissioner for education, science and Technology, professor Salihu Adelabu explained that governor Seyi Makinde’s administration had revamped the education sector with employment of about two thousand five hundred teachers into primary schools, Six hundred and forty-five into secondary school as well as six hundred and ninety two Education officer to boost teaching and learning across the state.
The commissioner who was represented by Deputy Director, Schools in the ministry, Mr Ibrahim, tasked school managers on proper use of school facilities while calling on parents and guardians to monitor rhe academic and psycho-social development of their children.
In a goodwill message, Director, Justice Development and Peace Commission, JDPC, Ibadan , Reverend Father, Jerome Ajakaiye urged the government to deploy relevant institutions to sanitise the public schools across the state.
