Car Kills OAU Final Year Student in Transit To Submit Final Project
A final year student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, O.A.U ile – ife, Osun state, Esu Rita Ema has been killed by a truck on her way to the campus to submit her final project
The accident which occurred near the University’s main gate had thrown residents around the area into mourning.
It was gathered that the deceased was a student of the Department of French in the university, was killed by a Lexus car with Abuja Registration Number ABJ 427 LQ driven by one Lasisi Sodiq Segun.
According to a witness, Mr. Akinnibi Miftau, late Rita was crossing the Ife-Ibadan express way, just a short distance from the campus entrance,when she was strucked by a car and shattered her body.
Meanwhile, The Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, O.A.U, ile- Ife , Professor Adebayo Bamire has condoled with the parents of late Rita Ema.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, Professor Bamire said it was very sad to lose a child, most especially a grown up, and promising adult with lot of potentials.
Professor Bamire appealed to the parents, siblings, family, friends and classmates to take solace in God.
In the meantime , the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, have deposited her remains at the mortuary of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTH Complex , while the driver has been arrested by the Police for interrogation.
