The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State says it is repositioning itself to reclaim power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
Chieftains of the party gave the assurance on Sunday during the 76th birthday celebration of the Oyo State APC Chairman, Mr. Olayide Moshood Abas, which also featured the launch of a biography in his honour at Jogor Centre, Ibadan.
The book, titled A Life of Principle: The Olayide Moshood Abas Story, was authored by his son, Akeem Abas, a journalist with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Guests at the event, including political associates, family members, and friends, described Abas, who is also a pharmacist and grassroots politician, as a bridge-builder and a leader committed to service.
Speaking at the occasion, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Oyo South) expressed optimism that the APC had closed ranks and was now well-positioned to wrest power from the PDP in 2027.
Also present were the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East in the House of Representatives, Mr. Aderemi Oseni, APC senatorial aspirant in Oyo Central, Mr. Wasiu Ademola Alli, APC governorship aspirant, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, and President of the Providence Coalition, Prince Niran Adeyoju.
Hon. Oseni and Prince Adeyoju said peace had returned to the party, stressing that reconciliation among members was a positive signal for its chances in the next election.
“There is no problem in Oyo State APC. By the special grace of God, APC is coming to take over Oyo State in 2027,” Oseni declared.
On his part, governorship aspirant, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, maintained that the APC had become a formidable force, insisting it remained the party to beat in the forthcoming elections.
He said the collective resolve of party stakeholders, coupled with renewed unity, would make it possible for the APC to dislodge the PDP from government in the state.
