As part of efforts towards achieving a successful Governorship election come 15th August , The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Joash Amupitan is currently in the State for a 3day official assignment to meet with relevant Stakeholders.
Professor Amupitan during a visit to the Ooni of ife, expressed the readiness of the Commission to conduct a free, fair, Credible and Transparent Election.
He expressed concern over the Security Situation in Osun State and called on Traditional Rulers to prevail on the Political Gladiators to refrain from actions capable of threatening public peace.

Professor Amupitan emphasized that Osun State Governorship poll is crucial, therefore its success would help sustain the Nation’ Democratic Development.
The Inec Chairman who expressed the hope that the visit would rebuild Public trust about the Commission, lauded the traditional rulers for the warm reception.
In his remarks, The Ooni of ife,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who decried the rising Political tension in the State, cautioned Politicians against violence.
Describing Professor Amupitan as the rightful person for the position of INEC Chairman, Oba Ogunwusi urged him to ensure the outcome of the election reflects the yearnings of the Electorates.
The Monarch added that the traditional institution owed a duty to engage political leaders constructively and remind them that governance should be centred on justice, fairness and the welfare of the people rather than partisan interests.
The meeting was attended by Traditional rulers across the State, Top Management team of the Commission, State Resident Electoral Commissioners among others.
