Amotekun Rescues Kidnapped Prophet, Arrests Nine Suspects in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has rescued a kidnapped victim, Prophet Joshua Oluwaseun Ariyo, after security operatives foiled his abductors’ attempt to collect a ₦100 million ransom.

The Commander of the Ondo Security network agency, Chief Adetunji Adeleye announced when he paraded the suspects at the command headquarters in Alagbaka Akure the state capital.

He stated that one victim was rescued alive and in good condition on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, after spending days in the kidnappers’ custody.

The Commander further disclosed that the rescue was achieved through the collaboration of security agencies and timely information from members of the public.

According to Chief Adeleye, the victim was abducted at a church around the Ogbese/Uso axis shortly after a programme ended at about 7:30 p.m.

He said the abductors initially demanded ₦100 million ransom but later threatened to kill the victim.

Narrating his ordeal, the rescued victim, Prophet Joshua Oluwaseun Ariyo, said his abductors initially demanded ₦100 million but later decided to kill him when it became clear that the ransom might not be paid.

Ariyo said he was abducted shortly after a church programme at about 7:30 p.m., when the kidnappers stormed the area and started shooting.

He said although the abductors attempted to seize other people, they eventually took him away because of his physical condition.
