Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has launched the construction of a 2.38-kilometre flyover in Akure, the state capital, describing the project as a major step towards addressing traffic congestion and bridging the infrastructure gap in the city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa said his administration remained committed to improving infrastructure across Ondo state, assuring residents that government would ensure speedy completion of the project.
The Governor explained that the flyover was carefully designed to ease traffic congestion along the Cathedral–Oba Adesida–Oja Oba axis, one of the busiest routes in the state capital.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Mr Abiola Olawoye, commended the Governor for his commitment to infrastructural development across the state.
Also speaking, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for the initiative, describing the project as a significant development for the state capital.
The 2.38-kilometre flyover, located along the Oyemekun–Oba Adesida Road corridor, will terminate around the St. Matthias/NNPC Filling Station area in Alagbaka, Akure.
