Gender – Based Violence: Stakeholders Scale Up Measures on Effective Response in Ondo State
A three-day capacity-building workshop, organized by Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood (ROTDOW) in partnership with The Nigeria Women Trust Fund Project (NWTF), has equipped over 20 stakeholders with essential skills to handle Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases.
The training, held in Akure, aimed at enhancing the capacity of service providers , including the media, to handle GBV cases with sensitivity and empathy.
ROTDOW’s Director, Mrs Olabisi Omolona emphasized the importance of empowering stakeholders to create a safer environment for all.
A Facilitator and Chairperson of Federation of Female Lawyers in Ondo State, Barrister Catherine Ogunjebi, highlighted the legal frameworks, advocacy strategies, and integrating women’s voices into policy-making as key in handling GBV cases.
Barrister Ogunjebi stressed inter-agency collaboration as crucial for comprehensive support to GBV survivors.
Participants, representing law enforcement, healthcare, social services, NOA, community organizations, and the media, gained knowledge and skills for effective response to GBV incidents, Provide support to survivor, Promote prevention strategies
Speaking on behalf of participants, Mrs. Bola Iyang and Mrs. Omoshileola Adesoye-Ajayi, expressed gratitude to ROTDOW for the timely program, affirming their readiness to tackle GBV in the state.
