CHILD ABUSE: Court Remands Two Clerics in Prison — Ondo NSCDC

CLERICS REMANDED FOR BRUTALISING MINORS

Two Islamic clerics, Adebodun Muideen, age 30 of Al-balaagul-mubeen Arabic & Islamic centre and Oladejo Musiliu, age 35 of Abdullah Arabic & Islamic centre, Owo, who were arraigned on 12th day of February, 2026 on three count charge of inflicting serious bodily injury on the person of two minors have been remanded.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 28 January, 2026, acting on a report by a child rights advocacy group, Kids and Teen Resource centre, on the assault and child abuse with evidence of multiple injuries on the bodies of the minors in Owo, Ondo state.

At the Magistrate Family court of Ondo State, Akure Division, the suspects were charged under section 3 (3) (a) of the Violence against persons prohibition law, 2021, sections n 255 of the criminal code law and 335 of the criminal code law cap 37, Vol 1 of Ondo State, 2006.

The court remanded the defendants at the Olokuta Correctional centre pending when their bail conditions are perfected as applied by the defence counsel. The court adjourned the matter to 9th April, 2026 for trial.

The court also made an order for the victims to be taken from their parents and sent to the children’s home pending when their parents show capacity that they can cater for the children.
